American military equipment and personnel will be represented at this year's Farnborough International Air Show in London, Sept. 7-13, 1998. Various models of U.S. military aircraft and about 100 aircrew and support personnel from bases in Europe and the United States are scheduled to participate.
Equipment scheduled for static display at the show includes aircraft from the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Army. U.S. military personnel attending the show will provide aircrew, maintenance, and administrative support services.
The Farnborough International Air Show is one of the premier events of its type in the world. U.S. military participation contributes to a number of U.S. security and foreign policy interests through promoting standardization and interoperability of equipment with our NATO allies and other potential coalition partners. Participation also highlights the strength of the U.S. commitment to the security of Europe, and demonstrates to a large audience that U.S. industry is producing the kinds of equipment that are critical to the success of future military operations.
