GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Lt. Gen. Montgomery C. Meigs, U.S. Army, for appointment to the grade of general with assignment as commanding general, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, Germany. Meigs is currently serving as the commanding general, U.S. Army Combined Arms Center, Fort Leavenworth, Kan.
Meigs was born on Jan. 11, 1945, in Annapolis, Md.
