Deputy Secretary of Defense John Hamre will deliver the keynote address to a panel of national security experts as part of the Vice President's Conference on Fighting Corruption and Safeguarding Integrity Among Justice and Security Officials, at George C. Marshall Hall, Fort Lesley J. McNair, at 3:30 p.m. (EST), Feb. 25. Following Hamre's remarks, Secretary of the Army Louis Caldera will co-chair a panel discussion. The discussion is expected to last about three hours. This event is open to the media.
Transportation is available to media representatives interesting in attending. A bus will depart the Mall Entrance at 3 p.m. (EST), on Feb. 25. It will return immediately following the panel discussion.
The overall purpose of the conference is to initiate high-level international discussion on the issue of corruption among police, prosecutors, judges, national security forces, customs officials, border guards, financial regulators and procurement/budget officials. It will include participants from 79 invited nations.
Panel discussions sponsored by other federal agencies will held throughout the three-day conference scheduled for Feb. 24-26. Main events of the conference will be held at the Loy Henderson International Conference Facility at the Department of State, Washington D.C.
