GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Maj. Gen. Earl B. Hailston, U.S. Marine Corps, for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as the commanding general, III Marine Expeditionary Force; commander, Marine Corps bases, Japan; and commander, Marine Forces, Japan. Hailston is currently serving as the director, strategic planning and policy, J-5, U.S. Pacific Command.
