The Department of Defense Southeast Region Small Business Council and the University of South Florida on June 16-17, 1999, will host the first conference and trade fair dedicated primarily to manufacturing business concerns owned by women. The event, which is expected to draw hundreds of exhibitors and attendees from across the country, will be held at the Tampa Convention Center, Tampa, Fla.
The conference is designed to help women-owned manufacturing businesses participate in and benefit from the procurement opportunities provided by some of the nation's largest organizations, according to Robert Neal, director of DoD's Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization policy office. "The Department fully supports this conference. It is the place to be for women-owned concerns looking for new or more business with the federal government and major corporations," Neal said.
Several military organizations and large DoD prime contractors will exhibit at the conference and also participate in workshops. Further information on the women-owned business conference is available on its website: www.ecrc.gatech.edu/wosmc99 or by calling the conference hotline at (727) 579-3038.
