GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the president has nominated Army Maj. Gen. Charles S. Mahan Jr. for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as a deputy chief of staff for Logistics, U.S. Army, Washington, DC. Mahan is currently serving as commanding general, 21st Theater Army Area Command, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, Germany.
