GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Air Force Maj. Gen. Charles F. Wald for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as commander, Ninth Air Force, Air Combat Command; and commander, U.S. Central Command Air Forces, Shaw Air Force Base, S.C. Wald is currently assigned as vice director, Strategic Plans and Policy, J-5, Joint Staff, Pentagon, Washington D.C.
