GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Air Force Gen. Richard B. Myers for appointment to the grade of general with assignment as vice chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Myers is currently assigned as commander in chief, United States Space Command; commander in chief, North American Aerospace Defense Command; commander, Air Force Space Command; and Department of Defense manager for Space Transportation Systems Contingency Support, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.
