GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Marine Corps Maj. Gen. William L. Nyland for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as deputy chief of staff for Programs and Resources, Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps.
Nyland is currently serving as the commanding general, 2d Marine Aircraft Wing, Cherry Point, N.C.
