FLAG OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Navy Rear Admiral Michael G. Mullen, for appointment to the grade of vice admiral and assignment as commander, Second Fleet and commander, Striking Fleet Atlantic in Norfolk, Va. Mullen is currently serving as director, Surface Warfare Division, N86, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
