Marine Dies Aboard USS Nashville

The Department of Defense has released the name of the Marine who died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at about 1:30 a.m., Oct. 5, 1994, while aboard USS Nashville (LSD 13). The ship was in port, at Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico at the time of the incident. He was Lance Cpl. Maurice A. Williams, age 21. His home of record was Detroit, Michigan. Lance Cpl. Williams was assigned to B Battery, 1st Battalion, 10th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, Camp LeJeune, N.C.
