GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that the President has
nominated Lieutenant General William H. Forster, United States Army, to be
placed on the retired list in his current grade. Lieutenant General Forster
will retire after completion of more than 32 years of service. Since August
1992, he has been serving as the Military Deputy to the Assistant Secretary of
the Army (Research, Development and Acquisition)/Director of the Army
Acquisition Corps, Washington, DC.
Lieutenant General Forster was born on June 24, 1939, in Shelby,
Mississippi.
