GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Michael P. DeLong for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as deputy commander-in-chief, U.S. Central Command. DeLong currently serves as the commanding general, 3d Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif.
