GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Army Lt. Gen. William P. Tangney for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as deputy commander in chief, U.S. Special Operations Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla. Tangney is currently serving as the commanding general, U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C.
