SUMMARIZED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE

Total numerical strength of the Armed Forces on September 30, 1994, based on preliminary reports, was 1,611,306. This is a decrease of 14,410 from August 31, 1994, and a decrease of 93,797 from the same time in 1993.
