GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that the President has
nominated Lieutenant General Ira C. Owens, United States Army, to be placed on
the retired list in his current grade. Lieutenant General Owens will retire
after completion of more than 33 years of service. Since November 1991, he has
been serving as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, United States Army,
Wasington, DC.
Lieutenant General Owens was born on July 31, 1936, in Cortez, Colorado.
