GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENTS

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the President has made the following nominations:

Army Brig. Gen. Keith B. Alexander has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Alexander is currently serving as the commanding general, U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command, Fort Belvoir, Va.

Army Brig. Gen. Eldon A. Bargewell has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Bargewell is currently serving as the assistant chief of staff for military operations, SFOR (Sarajevo), Joint Headquarters Centre, Allied Command Europe, Sarajevo.

Army Brig. Gen. David W. Barno has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Barno is currently serving as the deputy director for operations, J-3, U.S. Pacific Command, Camp H. M. Smith, Hawaii.

Army Brig. Gen. John R. Batiste has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Batiste is currently serving as the senior military assistant to the deputy secretary of defense, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Washington, D.C.

Army Brig. Gen. Peter W. Chiarelli has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Chiarelli is currently serving as the assistant division commander (support), 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Army Brig. Gen. Claude V. Christianson has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Christianson is currently serving as the assistant chief of staff, C-4/J-4/G-4, U.N. Command/Combined Forces Command/U.S. Forces Korea, and deputy commanding general (support), Eighth U.S. Army, Korea.

Army Brig. Gen. Robert T. Dail has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Dail is currently serving as the commanding general, 3rd Corps Support Command, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh U.S. Army, Germany.

Army Brig. Gen. Paul D. Eaton has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Eaton is currently serving as the deputy commanding general for transformation, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Lewis, Wash.

Army Brig. Gen. Karl W. Eikenberry has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Eikenberry is currently serving as the deputy director, Strategy, Plans and Policy Directorate, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and Plans, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Brig. Gen. Robert H. Griffin has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Griffin is currently serving as the commanding general, U.S. Army Engineer Division, Great Lakes and Ohio River, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Army Brig. Gen. John W. Holly has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Holly is currently serving as the program executive officer, Army Tactical Missiles, Redstone Arsenal, Ala.

Army Brig. Gen. David H. Huntoon, Jr., has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Huntoon is currently serving as the deputy commandant, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kan.

Army Brig. Gen. James C. Hylton has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Hylton is currently serving as the director of programs and architecture, Office of the Director for Information Systems for Command, Control, Communications and Computers, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Brig. Gen. Gene M. LaCoste has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. LaCoste is currently serving as the commander, U.S. Army Safety Center, Fort Rucker, Ala.

Army Brig. Gen. Dee A. McWilliams has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. McWilliams is currently serving as the deputy chief of staff, Personnel and Installation Management, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, Germany.

Army Brig. Gen. Raymond T. Odierno has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Odierno is currently serving as the director, Requirements and Force Management, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and Plans, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Brig. Gen. Virgil L. Packett II has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Packett is currently serving as the deputy commanding general/assistant commandant, U.S. Army Aviation Center and School, Fort Rucker, Ala.

Army Brig. Gen. Joseph F. Peterson has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Peterson is currently serving as the assistant division commander (maneuver), 3d Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Stewart, Ga.

Army Brig. Gen. David H. Petraeus has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Petraeus is currently serving as the chief of staff, XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Army Brig. Gen. Marilyn A. Quagliotti has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Quagliotti is currently serving as the commanding general/deputy chief of staff, Information Management, 5th Signal Command/U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, Germany.

Army Brig. Gen. Michael D. Rochelle has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Rochelle is currently serving as the commanding general, U.S. Army Soldier Support Institute, Fort Jackson, S.C.

Army Brig. Gen. Donald J. Ryder has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Ryder is currently serving as the commanding general, U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command, Fort Belvoir, Va.

Army Brig. Gen. Henry W. Stratman has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Stratman is currently serving as the deputy chief of staff for doctrine, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Monroe, Va.

Army Brig. Gen. Joe G. Taylor, Jr., has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Taylor is currently serving as the chief, Legislative Liaison, Office of the Secretary of the Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Brig. Gen. N. Ross Thompson III has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Thompson is currently serving as the deputy director, Program Analysis and Evaluation, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Programs, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Brig. Gen. James D. Thurman has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Thurman is currently serving as the commanding general, National Training Center and Fort Irwin, Fort Irwin, Calif.

Army Brig. Gen. Thomas R. Turner II has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Turner is currently serving as the assistant division commander (maneuver), 1st Infantry Division, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, Germany.

Army Brig. Gen. John M. Urias has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Urias is currently serving as the deputy commanding general - acquisition, U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command, Huntsville, Ala.

Army Brig. Gen. Michael A. Vane has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Vane is currently serving as the commanding general, 32d Army Air Missile Defense Command, Fort Bliss, Texas.

Army Brig. Gen. William G. Webster, Jr., has been nominated for appointment to the grade of major general. Webster is currently serving as the director of training, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and Plans, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.
