DOD CASUALTY UPDATE

The Department of Defense confirmed today that the following people were killed as a result of the attack on the Pentagon:

Army:

Col. Canfield D. Boone, 54, Ind.

Maj. Stephen V. Long, 39, Ga.

Mr. Robert J. Maxwell, Department of the Army civilian, 53, Manassas, Va.

Mr. Robert Russell, Department of the Army civilian, 52, Oxen Hill, Md.

Staff Sgt. Maudlyn A. White, 38, Christianstead, St. Croix, Virgin Islands

Navy:

Mr. Brady Howell, 26, Department of the Navy civilian, Arlington, Va.

Chief Information Systems Technician Gregg Harold Smallwood, 44, Overland Park, Kan.

124 persons were unaccounted for in the wake of the attack.

In addition, Ms. Antoinette Sherman, a Department of the Army civilian, 36, of Forest Heights, Md. died today as a result of injuries sustained in the attack.

To date, 113 remains have been recovered and transported to Dover Air Force Base, Del. for identification. Eighteen have been identified. Search and rescue operations continue.
