GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENTS

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the president has made the following nominations:

Army Reserve Brig. Gen. Alan D. Bell has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Bell is currently serving as the commander, 1st Brigade, and assistant division commander, 87th Division (Training Support), Birmingham, Ala.

Army Reserve Brig. Gen. James A. Cheatham has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Cheatham is currently serving as the deputy chief of engineers (Reserve Component) (Individual Mobilization Augumentee), Office of the Chief of Engineers, Washington, D.C.

Army Reserve Brig. Gen. Charles E. Gorton has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Gorton is currently serving as the assistant division commander, 100th Division (Institutional Training), Louisville, Ky.

Army Reserve Brig. Gen. Robert L. Heine has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Heine is currently serving as the deputy commanding general for Mobilization and Training (Individual Mobilization Augumentee), U.S. Army Maneuver Support Center, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

Army Reserve Brig. Gen. Lawrence J. Johnson has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Johnson is currently serving as the deputy commander, 89th Regional Support Command, Wichita, Kan.

Army Reserve Brig. Gen. David E. Kratzer has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Kratzer is currently serving as the deputy commander, 377th Theater Support Command, New Orleans, La.

Army Reserve Brig. Gen. Dennis J. Laich has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Laich is currently serving as the commander, 300th Military Police Command, Inkster, Mich.

Army Reserve Brig. Gen. Collis N. Phillips has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Phillips is currently serving as the deputy chief, Army Reserve (Individual Mobilization Augmentee), Office of the Chief, Army Reserve, Washington, D.C.

BRIGADIER GENERALS

Army Reserve Col. Steven R. Abt has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Abt is currently serving as the commander, U.S. Army Facilities Engineer Group, 416th Engineer Command, Darien, Ill.

Army Reserve Col. Rita M. Broadway has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Broadway is currently serving as the commander, 561st Corps Support Group, Omaha, Neb.

Army Reserve Col. Michael J. Diamond has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Diamond is currently serving as the commander, 32d Transportation Group, Tampa, Fla.

Army Reserve Col. James P. Eggleton has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Eggleton is currently serving as the assistant division commander, Army School System, 100th Division (Institutional Training), Louisville, Ky.

Army Reserve Col. James A. Hasbargen has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Hasbargen is currently serving as the commander, 330th Medical Brigade, Fort Sheridan, Ill.

Army Reserve Col. Rosemary R. Loper has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Loper is currently serving as the deputy commander, 70th Regional Support Command, Fort Lawton, Wash.

Army Reserve Col. John Y. H. Ma has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Ma is currently serving as the deputy chief of staff for Force Development, 9th Regional Support Command, Honolulu, Hawaii.

Army Reserve Col. Matthew C. Matia has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Matia is currently serving as the deputy commanding general for Mobilization and Training (Individual Mobilization Augmentee), U.S. Army Combined Arms Support Command, Fort Lee, Va.

Army Reserve Col. Michael W. Means has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Means is currently serving as the deputy commanding general, 9th Theater Support Command (CONUS Augmentation), Fort Belvoir, Va.

Army Reserve Col. James E. Payne III has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Payne is currently serving as the commander, 641st Area Support Group, St. Petersburg, Fla.

Army Reserve Col. Robert A. Pollmann has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Pollmann is currently serving as the deputy chief of staff, Operations, 88th Regional Support Command, Fort Snelling, Minn.

Army Reserve Col. James W. Rafferty has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Rafferty is currently serving as the assistant division commander (Support), 98th Division (Institutional Training), Rochester, N.Y.

Army Reserve Col. James F. Reynolds has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Reynolds is currently serving as brigade surgeon, 364th Civil Affairs Brigade, Portland, Ore.

Army Reserve Col. Thomas D. Robinson has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Robinson is currently serving as commander, 3d Transportation Movement Control Agency, Anniston, Ala.

Army Reserve Col. Jose M. Rosado has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Rosado is currently serving as commander, 65th Regional Support Command, San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Army Reserve Col. Dean G. Sienko has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Sienko is currently serving as commander, 307th Medical Group, Columbus, Ohio.

Army Reserve Col. James L. Snyder has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Snyder is currently serving as commander, 411th Engineer Brigade, New Windsor, N.Y.

Army Chief of Staff Gen. Eric K. Shinseki announced today that Army National Guard Brig. Gen. Roy M. Umbarger is being assigned as deputy commanding general (Reserve Component), United States Army Forces Command, Fort McPherson, Ga. Umbarger is currently serving as assistant division commander, 38th Infantry Division (Mechanized), Indiana Army National Guard, Indianapolis, Ind.
