During a Pentagon ceremony held today, Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition, Technology & Logistics) E.C. "Pete" Aldridge congratulated 10 winners of the Secretary of Defense Environmental Award for their efforts to protect the environment.
DoD recognized outstanding achievements in natural resources conservation, cultural resources management, environmental quality, pollution prevention, environmental restoration, environmental excellence in weapon system acquisition, and in a special category.
Award recipients are listed below by Military Department and award category.
DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY
U.S. Army Transportation Center, Fort Eustis and Fort Story, Va. was presented the Natural Resources Conservation, Small Installation Award.
DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY
Commander Navy Region Mid-Atlantic, Hampton Roads, Va. was presented the Cultural Resources Management, Installation Award.
Cmdr. Stephen P. Markle, USN, Lewis and Clark (T-AKE) Class Program, Washington, D.C. was presented the Environmental Quality, Individual/Team Award.
Lewis and Clark (T-AKE) Class Project Team, Washington, D.C. was presented the Environmental Excellence in Weapon System Acquisition Award.
DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE
Natural Resources Conservation Team, 45th Space Wing, Patrick Air Force Base, Fla. was presented the Natural Resources Conservation, Individual/Team Award.
Air Armament Center, Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. was presented the Environmental Quality, Non-Industrial Installation Award.
Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, Robins Air Force Base, Ga. was presented the Pollution Prevention, Industrial Installation Award.
F. E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo. was presented the Environmental Restoration, Installation Award.
Ms. Beatrice L. Kephart, Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. was presented the Environmental Restoration, Individual/Team Award.
JOINT AWARD
The DoD Environmental Data Quality Workgroup, Arlington, Va., was presented a Special Award.
