GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUCEMENT
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the president has nominated Air Force Maj. Gen. Arthur J. Lichte for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as vice commander, U.S. Air Forces in Europe, Ramstein Air Base, Germany. Lichte is currently serving as director, Plans and Programs, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill.
