Bob Hollingsworth, executive director of the National Committee of Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), will join NASDAQ host Wick Simmons, chairman and chief executive officer, the NASDAQ Stock Market, to preside over the market opening on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at 9:30 a.m. EST at the NASDAQ MarketSite, 4 Times Square, 43rd & Broadway.
ESGR is an agency within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs. It was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Force members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee's military commitment. Today ESGR operates through a network of more than 4,500 volunteers throughout 54 committees located in each state, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
NASDAQ will demonstrate its support of its employees who participate in the National Guard and Reserve when Simmons signs a symbolic statement of support at the market open. The statement is a pledge from an organization that it will not deny employment to an individual who is a member of the Guard or Reserve, not limit or reduce employee job or career opportunities because they are a member of the Guard or Reserve, allow Guard and Reserve members time off for military training and make these policies well-known throughout the organization.
