GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENTS

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the president has made the following nominations:

Army Col. John C. Adams has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Adams is currently serving as the United States defense attach, American Embassy, Seoul, Korea.

Army Col. Charles B. Allen has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Allen is currently serving as the executive officer to the deputy chief of staff, G-8, United States Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Charles A. Anderson has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Anderson is currently serving as the chief of staff, 32d Army Air and Missile Defense Command, Fort Bliss, Texas.

Army Col. Oscar R. Anderson has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Anderson is currently serving as the chief, Central Asia/South Asia Division, Asia/Pacific Directorate, J-5, The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. John R. Bartley has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Bartley is currently serving as the deputy program manager, Future Combat Systems, Program Executive Office Ground Combat System, Warren, Mich.

Army Col. Kevin J. Bergner has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Bergner is currently serving as the division chief, Plans and Policy, J-5, The Joint Staff, with duty as special assistant to the deputy, Combined Forces Command, United States Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.

Army Col. Bruce A. Berwick has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Berwick is currently serving as the executive officer to the Under Secretary of the Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Nolen V. Bivens has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Bivens is currently serving as chief, Support Agency, Reform and Assessment Division, Joint Warfighting Capability Assessment Directorate, J-8, The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Daniel P. Bolger has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Bolger is currently serving as the chief of staff, 2d Infantry Division, Eighth United States Army, Korea.

Army Col. Doyle D. Broome, Jr., has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Broome is currently serving as the chief of staff, United States Army Aviation Center and Fort Rucker, Fort Rucker, Ala.

Army Col. Albert Bryant, Jr., has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Bryant is currently serving as the director, Center for Army Tactics, United States Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kan.

Army Col. Robert L. Caslen, Jr., has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Caslen is currently serving as the chief of staff, 10th Mountain Division (Light), Fort Drum, N.Y.

Army Col. James E. Chambers has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Chambers is currently serving as the executive officer to the deputy chief of staff, G-4, United States Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Bernard S. Champoux has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Champoux is currently serving as the executive assistant to the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Anthony A. Cucolo III has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Cuculo is currently serving as the chief, NATO Policy and Western Europe Division, J-5, The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Michael C. Flowers has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Flowers is currently serving as the director, Center for Army Leadership, United States Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kan.

Army Col. Jeffrey W. Foley has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Foley is currently serving as the chief of staff, United States Army Signal Center, Fort Gordon, Ga.

Army Col. Yves J. Fontaine has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Fontaine is currently serving as the chief of staff, United States Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Army Col. Rebecca S. Halstead has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Halsead is currently serving as the executive officer to the commander, United States Southern Command, Miami, Fla.

Army Col. Karl R. Horst has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Horst is currently serving as the chief of staff, 82d Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Army Col. Michael D. Jones has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Jones is currently serving as the director, Staff Group, Office of the Chief of Staff, United States Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Purl K. Keen has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Keen is currently serving as the commander, United States Military Group, Bogota, Columbia.

Army Col. David B. Lacquement has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Lacquement is currently serving as the deputy chief of staff for operations, United States Army Intelligence and Security Command, Fort Belvoir, Va.

Army Col. Stanley H. Lillie has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Lillie is currently serving as the chief, Biological and Chemical Defense Division, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-8, United States Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Thomas C. Maffey has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Maffey is currently serving as the executive officer to the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3, United States Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Francis G. Mahon has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Mahon is currently serving as the chief, Air and Missile Defense Division, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-8, United States Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Joseph E. Martz has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Martz is currently serving as the commander, Operations Group, United States Army National Training Center, Fort Irwin, Calif.

Army Col. Raymond V. Mason has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Mason is currently serving as the deputy director for Logistics, Readiness, and Requirements, J-4, The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. John F. Mulholland, Jr., has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Mulholland is currently serving as the commander, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Campbell, Ky.

Army Col. Patrick J. O'Reilly has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. O'Reilly is currently serving as the project manager, Theater High Altitude Area Defense Engineering and Manufacturing Development Program, Missile Defense Agency, Huntsville, Ala.

Army Col. Mark V. Phelan has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Phelan is currently serving as the deputy for Special Operations, J-3, The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Joseph Schroedel has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Schroedel is currently serving as the chief of staff, United States Army Corps of Engineers, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. John E. Sterling, Jr., has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Sterling is currently serving as the chief of staff, 3d Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Stewart, Ga.

Army Col. Randolph P. Strong has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Strong is currently serving as the director, J-6, United States Pacific Command, Camp H. M. Smith, Hawaii.

Army Col. James L. Terry has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Terry is currently serving as the commander, Operations Group, Joint Readiness Training Center, Fort Polk, La.

Army Col. William J. Troy has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Troy is currently serving as the executive officer to the Vice Chief of Staff, United States Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Peter M. Vangjel has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Vangjel is currently serving as the chief of staff, 1st Infantry Division, United States Army Europe and Seventh Army, Germany.

Army Col. Dennis L. Via has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Via is currently serving as the chief, Joint Requirement Oversight Council Management Division, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-8, United States Army, Washington, D.C.

Army Col. Joseph L. Votel has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Votel is currently serving as commander, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Ga.

Army Col. Francis J. Wiercinski has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Wiercinski is currently serving as the deputy director for regional operations, Special Operations Division, J-3, The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.
