FLAG AND GENERAL OFFICER ASSIGNMENTS

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Vern Clark announced today that Navy Rear Adm. Ronald A. Route is being assigned as president, Navy War College, Newport, R.I. Route is currently serving as commander, Navy Warfare Development Command, Newport, R.I.

MAJOR GENERALS

Army Chief of Staff Gen. Eric K. Shinseki announced the following assignments:

Army Maj. Gen. Dell L. Dailey is being assigned as deputy commanding general, XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg, Fort Bragg, N.C. Dailey is currently serving as commanding general, Joint Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Army Maj. Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal is being assigned as commanding general, Joint Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C. McChrystal is currently serving as vice director for operations, J-3, The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Army Maj. Gen. Joseph F. Peterson is being assigned as vice director for operations, J-3, The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C. Peterson is currently serving as commanding general, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

BRIGADIER GENERALS

Army Chief of Staff Gen. Eric K. Shinseki announced that Army Brig. Gen. Richard W. Mills is being assigned as commanding general, Special Operations Command, Korea. Mills is currently serving as director, Army Special Operations Forces Transformation, U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C.
