GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that the President has
nominated Lieutenant General Marvin L. Covault, United States Army, to be
placed on the retired list in his current grade. Lieutenant General Covault
will retire after completion of more than 31 years of service. Since May 1993,
he has been serving as the Chief of Staff, Allied Forces Southern Europe.
Lieutenant General Covault was born on October 29, 1940, in Guthrie County,
Iowa.
