GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that the President has
nominated Lieutenant General George R. Christmas, U.S. Marine Corps, for
reappointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as Commander,
U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific, Commanding General, Fleet Marine Force
Pacific, Commander Marine Corps Bases Pacific. Lieutenant General Christmas is
currently assigned as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Manpower and Reserve
Affairs, Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps, and has served in this capacity since
July 1994.
Lieutenant General Christmas was born on March 11, 1940, in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania.
