GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that the President has
nominated General Carl E. Mundy, Jr., United States Marine Corps, to be placed
on the retired list in his current grade. General Mundy will retire after
completion of 38 years of service. Since July 1991, he has been serving as the
Commandant of the Marine Corps.
General Mundy was born on July 16, 1935, in Atlanta, Georgia.
