GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that the President has
nominated Lieutenant General Robert B. Johnston, United States Marine Corps, to
be placed on the retired list in his current grade. Lieutenant General
Johnston will retire after completion of 34 years of service. Since July 1994,
he has been serving as Commander, Marine Corps Forces Atlantic/ Commanding
General, Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic/Commanding General, II Marine
Expeditionary Force/Commander Strike Force Atlantic/Commanding General, Fleet
Marine Force, Europe.
Lieutenant General Johnston was born on October 6, 1937 in Edinburgh,
Scotland.
