General and Flag Officer Announcements

LIEUTENANT GENERALS

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the president has made the following nominations:

Air Force Lt. Gen. John D. Hopper, Jr., has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as assistant vice chief of staff, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Hopper is currently serving as vice commander, Air Education and Training Command, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas.

Air Force Lt. Gen. Richard E. Brown III has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as vice commander, Air Education and Training Command, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. Brown is currently serving as deputy chief of staff, personnel, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

Air Force Lt. Gen. Steven R. Polk has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as the inspector general of the Air Force, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Polk is currently serving as vice commander, Pacific Air Forces, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii.

Air Force Maj. Gen. Victor E. Renuart, Jr., has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as vice commander, Pacific Air Forces, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. Renuart is currently serving as director, operations, J-3, U.S. Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.

Air Force Maj. Gen. Roger A. Brady has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as deputy chief of staff, personnel, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Brady is currently serving as director of operations, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill.

REAR ADMIRAL (LOWER HALF)

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Vern Clark announced that Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) (selectee) Terry L. McCreary is being assigned as chief of information, Arlington, Va. McCreary is currently serving as special assistant to the Chairman for Public Affairs, Joint Staff, Arlington, Va.
