GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that the President has
nominated Lieutenant General John P. Otjen, United States Army, to be placed on
the retired list in his current grade. Lieutenant General Otjen will retire
after completing more than 31 years of service. Since September 28, 1993, he
has been serving as the Commanding General, First United States Army, Fort
Meade, Maryland.
Lieutenant General Otjen was born on January 17, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas.
