General Officer Announcements
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the president has made the following nominations:
Army Lt. Gen. William E. Ward has been nominated for reappointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as deputy commanding general and chief of staff, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, Germany. Ward is currently serving as commander, Stabilization Force, Operation Joint Forge, Bosnia.
Army Maj. Gen. Franklin L. Hagenbeck has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as deputy chief of staff, G-1, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C. Hagenbeck previously served as commanding general, 10th Mountain Division (Light) and Fort Drum, Fort Drum, N.Y.
