MAJOR GENERAL TANDY K. BOZEMAN APPOINTED TO RESERVE FORCES POLICY BOARD
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry has announced the designation of Air
National Guard Maj. Gen. Tandy K. Bozeman as a member of the Reserve Forces
Policy Board effective September 1, 1995. Bozeman currently serves as the
adjutant general of the California National Guard.
The 24-member Reserve Forces Policy Board was created by Congress in 1952.
Acting through the assistant secretary of Defense for reserve affairs, the
board serves as the principal policy advisor to the secretary of Defense on
reserve component matters. Members include the assistant secretary responsible
for Reserve Affairs from each of the military departments, and active and
reserve component general and flag officers representing all Services,
including the Coast Guard.
The general began his military career in the Reserve Officer's Training Corps,
where he was a distinguished graduate in 1963. Since then his experiences have
included service as an aviator, instructor pilot, and positions in operational
and command assignments at the squadron and wing level. He holds a bachelor's
degree in anthropology from the University of Alabama, and a master's degree
and doctorate from the University of California. He has also completed
military requirements for the Air Command and Staff College, National Security
Management Course and the program for senior executives for national and
international security at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard
University, 1990.
Bozeman's decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal
with oak leaf cluster, Air Medal with oak leaf cluster, Air Force Commendation
Medal, and Combat Readiness Medal with three oak leaf clusters.
The general and wife, Shari, reside in Sacramento, Calif. They have a son,
Key and a daughter, Brenna.
