GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that the President hasnominated Lieutenant General Henry H. Shelton, United States Army, forappointment to the grade of general and assignment as Commander in Chief,United States Special Operations Command.
Since June 1993, he has served asthe Commanding General, XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Lieutenant General Shelton was born on January 2, 1942, Tarboro, NorthCarolina.
