The Department of Defense will honor 22 companies with the 2004 Nunn-Perry Award at this years DoD Mentor-Protg (MP) Conference March 15-17, at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center, 5000 Seminary Rd., Alexandria, Va.
In addition to recognizing Nunn-Perry Award winning teams, this years conference theme Mentors and Protgs: Transforming America Together through Innovative Technology will create a forum for shared technical concepts between mentor and protg companies and representatives from DoD. Addressing that theme, acting Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics Michael Wynne will speak at the conference on Tuesday, March 16, at 10 a.m. EST.
Awards are determined by the successes of the mentor-protg team in achieving cost efficiencies, enhancing the protgs technical capabilities, and increasing new business opportunities for DoD prime contracts and subcontracts. The award is named in honor of former Senator Sam Nunn and former Secretary of Defense William Perry, whose sponsorship and commitment were instrumental in creating and implementing the DoD Mentor-Protg program.
A complete list of winners will be available at www.dodsbconference.com on March 17. On that date during a breakfast ceremony, DoD prime contractors (mentors) and their small and disadvantaged businesses (protgs) will receive awards. Nancy Spruill, DoDs director, acquisition resources and analysis, and Frank M. Ramos, director, Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, will make the presentations.
The DoD MP program is the leading mentor-protg model for similar programs in other government agencies. More information is available at www.acq.osd.mil/sadbu/mentor_protege, by email: email@example.com, or by calling (800) 540-8857.
