RECEIVES 11 NEW MEMBERS
Secretary of Defense William Perry has announced the selection of the 1996
appointees to the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services
(DACOWITS). The 11 new members are: Ms. Elizabeth Alexander, Tucson, Ariz.;
Dr. Arthur Hoyte, Washington, D.C.; Ms. Lori Hunter, Marlboro, Mass.; Ms. Lynda
Imes, Baton Rouge, La.; Ms. Barbara Lane-Brown, Redondo Beach, Calif.; The
Honorable Marilyn Lloyd, Chattanooga, Tenn.; Ms. Sheila McNeil, Brunswick, Ga.;
Ms. Ginger Simpson, Apopka, Fla.; Dr. Barbara Speer, Arvada, Colo.; Ms. Lyn
Starnes, Meridian, Miss.; and Ms. Sue Straughn, Pensacola, Fla.
The DACOWITS has 41 civilian members from throughout the United States,
selected on the basis of achievements in business, professions, and civic
affairs. Members are appointed by the Secretary of Defense for a three-year
term, without compensation, to advise on policies relating to the effective
utilization of women in the Services.
Ms. Holly Hemphill of Alexandria, Va., is the 1996 DACOWITS Chair.
