GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that the President has
nominated Maj. Gen. John M Keane, United States Army, for appointment to the
grade of lieutenant general and assignment as Commanding General, XVIII
Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg, Fort Bragg, N.C. Since July 1993, he has served
as the Commanding General, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort
Campbell, Fort Campbell, Ky.
Maj. Gen. Keane was born on February 1, 1943, in New York, N. Y.
