General Officer Announcement

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the President has nominated Marine Corps Major General James N. Mattis for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as the Commanding General, Marine Corps Combat Development Command. Mattis is currently serving as the Commanding General, 1st Marine Division in Iraq.
