DoD Identifies Army Casualties

The Department of Defense announced today the death of five Soldiers supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. They died July 8 in Baghdad, Iraq. All were in the Iraqi National Guard Headquarters when it came under a mortar attack. Each of the soldiers was assigned to 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany. Killed were:

Sgt. Robert E. Colvill, Jr., 31, of Anderson, Ind.

Spc. William R. Emanuel, IV, 19, of Stockton, Calif.

Spc. Joseph M. Garmback, Jr., 24, of Cleveland, Ohio

Spc. Sonny G. Sampler, 23, of Oklahoma City, Okla.

Pfc. Collier E. Barcus, 21, of McHenry, Ill.

The incident is under investigation.
