DoD Identifies Army Casualty
The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Spc. Mark Anthony Zapata, 27, of Edinburg, Texas, died August 15 in Najaf, Iraq as a result of hostile fire. Zapata was assigned to the Armys 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division from Fort Hood, Texas.
The incident is under investigation.
