GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that the President has
nominated Maj. Gen. Richard T. Swope, United States Air Force, for appointment
to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as Inspector General of the
Air Force, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force. Swope is currently
assigned as the commander, 13th Air Force, Pacific Air Forces; and commander,
Southwest Pacific Air Defense Region, Anderson Air Force Base, Guam.
Swope was born Nov. 21, 1942, in Binghampton, NY.
