GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that General Barry R.
McCaffrey, United States Army, has been placed on the retired list in his
current grade. General McCaffrey retired after completion of more than 31
years of service. Since February 1994, he served as the Commander in Chief,
United States Southern Command, Quarry Heights, Panama.
General McCaffrey was born on November 17, 1942, in Taunton, Massachusetts.
