The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Sgt. Michael A. Uvanni, 27, of Rome, N.Y., died Oct.1 in Samarra, Iraq, he was conducting combat operations and was shot by a sniper. Uvanni was assigned to the Army National Guards 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry Regiment, Morrisonville, N.Y.
