Acting Secretary of the Army Les Brownlee submitted his resignation today effective December 3, 2004. Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld expressed his appreciation to Secretary Brownlee for his long and dedicated service to the country.
Secretary Brownlee has led the Army with distinction while this nation has been at war, said Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. He will have completed more than four decades of service to our country. I appreciate his service and wish him all the best.
Mr. Brownlee served as the Under Secretary of the Army from November 2001 to May 2003, at which time he also assumed the duties as the Acting Secretary of the Army.
