GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that the President
intends to nominate Lieutenant General Richard I. Neal, U.S. Marine Corps, for
appointment to the grade of general and assignment as Assistant Commandant of
the Marine Corps.
Lieutenant General Neal is currently serving as the Deputy Commander-in-Chief,
U.S. Central Command.
Lieutenant General Neal was born on June 20, 1942, in Hull, Massachusetts.
