GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that the President has
nominated Lt. Gen. John P. Jumper, United States Air Force, for reappointment
to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as deputy chief of staff,
Plans and Operations, Headquarters United States Air Force, Pentagon,
Washington, D.C. Jumper is currently assigned as commander, Ninth Air Force,
Air Combat Command; and commander, United States Central Command Air Forces,
Shaw AFB, S. C.
Jumper was born Feb. 4, 1945 in Paris, Texas.
