General Officer Announcements

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the President made the following nominations:

 

Marine Corps Brigadier General Timothy R. Larsen has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Larsen is currently serving as the deputy commander, U. S. Forces Japan, Yokota, Japan.

 

Marine Corps Brigadier General William D. Catto has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Catto is currently serving as the commander, Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico, VA.

 

Marine Corps Brigadier General Michael E. Ennis has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Ennis is currently serving as the deputy director for Human Intelligence, Defense Intelligence Agency, Washington, D.C.

 

Marine Corps Brigadier General Michael R. Lehnert has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Lehnert is currently serving as the chief of staff, U. S. Southern Command, Miami, FL.

 

Marine Corps Brigadier General Duane D. Thiessen has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Thiessen is currently serving as the commanding general, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa, Japan.

 

Marine Corps Brigadier General Walter E. Gaskin, Sr., has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Gaskin is currently serving as the commanding general, Marine Corps Recruiting Command, Quantico, VA.

 

Marine Corps Brigadier General Richard C. Zilmer has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Zilmer is currently serving as the commanding general, Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command, Twenty-nine Palms, Calif.

 

Marine Corps Brigadier General Thomas A. Benes has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Benes is currently serving as the director, Strategy and Plans Division, Plans, Policies and Operations Department, Headquarters Marine Corps, Washington, D.C.

 

Marine Corps Brigadier General George J. Trautman III, has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Trautman is currently serving as the deputy commander, U. S. Marine Forces Pacific and Commanding General, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe, Hawaii.

 

Marine Corps Brigadier General Willie J. Williams has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Williams is currently serving as the assistant deputy commandant (Facilities), Installations and Logistics Department, Headquarters Marine Corps, Washington, D.C.

 

Marine Corps Colonel Robert E. Milstead, Jr., has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Milstead is currently serving the commander, 2d Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward), Cherry Point, N.C.

 

Marine Corps Colonel Anthony L. Jackson has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Jackson is currently serving as the assistant chief of staff, G-5, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.

 

Marine Corps Colonel Melvin G. Spiese has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Spiese is currently serving the director, Expeditionary Warfare School, Quantico, Va.

 

Marine Corps Colonel Michael R. Regner has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Regner is currently serving as the assistant chief of staff, G-3, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.

 

Marine Corps Colonel Richard M. Lake has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Lake is currently serving as the professor of Naval Science, The Citadel, Charleston, S.C.

 

Marine Corps Colonel Steven A. Hummer has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Hummer is currently serving as the chief of staff, Joint Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C.

 

Marine Corps Colonel Raymond C. Fox has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Fox is currently serving as the 2d Marine Aircraft Wing Marine liaison officer to the Combined Air Operations Center, Yuma, Ariz.

 

Marine Corps Colonel George J. Allen has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Allen is currently serving as the commanding officer, Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity, Camp Pendleton, Calif.

 

Marine Corps Colonel John E. Wissler has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Wissler is currently serving as the commander, 2d Force Service Support Group (Forward), Camp Lejeune, N.C.

 

Marine Corps Colonel Anthony M. Haslam has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Haslam is currently serving as the commanding officer, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable), Camp Pendleton, Calif.

 

Marine Corps Colonel David R. Heinz has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Heinz is currently serving as the program manager for AV-8B, Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md.

 

Marine Corps Colonel David G. Reist has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Reist is currently serving as the chief of staff, 1st Force Service Support Group, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
