GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that the president hasnominated Lieutenant General Wesley K. Clark, United States Army, forappointment to the grade of general and assignment as Command in Chief, UnitedStates Southern Command, Quarry Heights, Panama.
Since April 1994, he hasserved as the Director for Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate (J-5), TheJoint Staff, Washington, D.C.
Lieutenant General Clark was born on December 23, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois.
