Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the President has made the following nominations:
Army Lt. Gen. David W. Barno has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as assistant chief of staff for Installation Management, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C. Barno is currently serving as the commander, Combined Forces Command-Afghanistan, U.S. Central Command, OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, Afghanistan.
Army Lt. Gen. Robert W. Wagner has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as commanding general, U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C. Wagner is currently serving as the deputy commander, U.S. Joint Forces Command, Norfolk, Va.
