Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the President has nominated Army Maj. Gen. Eric T. Olson for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as deputy commander, United States Pacific Command, Camp H. M. Smith, Hawaii. Olson is currently serving as the commanding general, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
