The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Spc. Robert A. Swaney, 21, of West Jefferson, Ohio, died July 30 in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his patrol HMMWV.Swaney was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colo.
